To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Elisa Carrillo and I was one of many students taught by Coach Bassell last semester. Through my entire college experience I have had professors making themselves available to their students, so that we know where to find help, but Professor Bassell was the first to ever make me feel comfortable enough to look for help with homework assignments. Last semester was personally one of the most challenging times I’ve had in my years here, but thanks to Coach B I found a support system. I even reached out to him in regards to choosing a major that will take me where I want to be. He became my mentor when I needed it the most.
Only after knowing who Coach B was did I notice his amazing reputation all throughout the school of business. He is the true definition of an educator, someone who teaches you things beyond the classroom. His course in marketing was very challenging and he pushed me in more ways than I expected. He focuses on making sure his students can make ethical decisions in a world that has a lot of corruption. We complete questionnaires he created on SurveyGizmo to teach us about ethics, social responsibility, and marketing research. I never had any professor use this teaching approach.
Thanks to him I walked out of a difficult semester feeling more confident in my abilities than ever. Knowing that I can handle the workload, but most importantly knowing when to reach out for help when I need it. He makes students feel confident in their abilities and makes sure we know that we are the “best students everrrr!”. If you enter a class taught in the school of business and mention his name, I am most certain that at least half of the students know who he is and appreciate his efforts to make sure we have a fulfilling experience in the courses he teaches. His personality and teaching skills are like no other. And for that, I am forever grateful to have met him.
Best,
Elisa
