Dr. Myles Bassell is a student-focused educator and an award-winning full-time faculty member who has been teaching at Brooklyn College for more than 20 years.

• preparing students for careers by teaching students to use AI.

He is a member of the following professional organizations: the American Marketing Association, the American Academy of Advertising, the Academy of Marketing Science, the Association of Consumer Research, the Association of National Advertisers, and the Risk Management and Insurance Society.

Prior to joining the dean’s office, Dr. Bassell was the program director of the business administration graduate program at the Koppelman School of Business. From July 2015 – August 2024, he served as the deputy chairperson for the department of business management, currently known as the management, marketing, and entrepreneurship department. For more than a decade, he has been actively involved in AACSB accreditation and assurance of learning, recently serving as chairperson of the Assurance of Learning Committee and liaison with the curriculum committee.

He was elected and served on Brooklyn College’s Faculty Council, President’s Policy Council, Course & Standing Committee, the Roberta Matthews Center for Teaching and Learning Board of Directors, and the University Faculty Senate. He serves on the College-Wide Election Review Committee (CWERC).

Dr. Bassell earned the following recognition.
Distinguished Teacher:
Bassell is the recipient of the 2016 Tow Distinguished Teacher Award.
Excellence in Teaching:
Bassell is the recipient of the Koppelman School of Business Excellence in Teaching Award for 2015, 2016, 2020, and 2021.
Excellence in Service:
Bassell is the recipient of the Koppelman School of Business Excellence in Service Award for 2013, 2018, and 2022.
Outstanding Deputy Chairperson:
Bassell is the recipient of the 2018 Brooklyn College Outstanding Deputy Chairperson Award.
Professor of the Year:
Bassell is the recipient of the 2024 Brooklyn College Professor of the Year Award at Bulldog Achievement Award Ceremony hosted by the Division of Student Affairs.

Dr. Myles Bassell has also received other awards that recognized him for his leadership, teaching, significant service and volunteerism including but not limited to the Coach of the Decade Award (2015), Business Leadership Society Award for Outstanding Service (2010), and National Association of Black Accountants (N.A.B.A.) Award for Outstanding and Dedicated Service (2008).
